As you are setting up your bathroom remodeling plan, it is wise to include as many green elements as possible.
We are a dysfunctional society and have developed an attitude of 'something else where it has come from', unlike the previous generation, which eclipses every aspect of being more frugal and useful before throwing anything away.
In relation to our bathroom remodeling plan, we do whatever we can and still get a pleasant result, adding some new ongoing green factors.
So what can we do again?
Due to the inability of water, when bathing is missed, it may have some age to replace the toilet. This will save you money down the road, as new toilets require less water per flush. These have improved a lot over time and some research will shut down the things that will give you the most flush for spent water, and reduce your water bill as a profit.
In most cases, the vanity top needs to be replaced as it is used a lot, but the base unit can possibly be shielded with some sanding and prep and either a stain or a fresh coat of paint. I am in favor of stains, as I think it is better in a house especially with children.
A bathtub in good condition can be given a new look by installing a new shower door, or a new enclosure. This saves major demolition and removal costs as well as the issue of landfill.
Taps and shower heads are now available with various features including endless supplies, finishes, and low water usage. This will again fuel them to heat more water to save both water bills and energy bills.
Lighting fixtures should be purchased keeping energy saving in mind. Now, this is a serious and imminent issue. Be prepared to purchase lighting fixtures and fittings for your bathroom remodeling project that accommodate (CFL) or compact fluorescent light.
Why do I say this? Because incandescent bulbs will soon be a thing of the past. There is some controversy over when this will take effect in the US, but be assured that it will happen soon. There is already a ban in Australia and some European countries, and retailers are selling their current stock like hot cases, but cannot buy more.
We can either change now, and have the appropriate fixtures in place, or be forced to make changes in the near future.
Each of these suggestions contributes to the green movement in one way or another. And, if you are opposing the movement for green efforts, then comfort yourself knowing that each of these tips will save you money, and we can all use some help in that area in these backward economic times Can.
